We are pleased to announce that Çakmak Attorney Partnership has successfully advised First Quantum Minerals as its Turkish counsel in the sale of its shares in Çayeli Bakır İşletmeleri A.Ş., to Cengiz İnşaat.
Located on the Black Sea coast of northeastern Türkiye, the Çayeli mine has been one of the country’s most significant copper and zinc operations since commencing production in 1994.
Acting alongside Simmons & Simmons, the Çakmak team was led by partners Ayşe Eda Biçer and Gülşen Engin, and the core team included associates Nehar Çakmakcı and Başak Armağan.
Completion of the transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals.
